Bolt Picnic at Barbour County Fair Grounds Barbour County hosted a Bolt Picnic on Sept. 15, 2001 at the Barbour County Fairgrounds. The boys had an active basketball game and the rest of us chatted and enjoyed a lot of great food. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of attendance until Lisa Kittel reminded me that the tower bombings had happened only four days before. A lot of people just wanted to stay home, be with their families, and watch the TV for more information. A special “Thank You” to Marty Reitter & Alma Higginbottom. The food and grab bags were very much appreciated. Thank You Alma for going out of your way to bring the items to us. |

The Pipestem Conference The Pipestem Conference is coming up soon. John and Ben will be representing Barbour County again this year. Even though John won’t be here, you must come to class to receive your credit hours. Hopefully John will bring back some pictures of what goes on, especially of the auction! Speaking of the auction, the McCauley family and Justin Foley are the only ones to turn in a craft to be auctioned off! Come on everyone, let’s have a good showing from Barbour County. The money raised from this auction will be put in the “BOLT” scholarship fund. The money is issued to the students that get their GED and wish to further their education. The money may be used for tuition, food, clothing, gas, or whatever you may need to help towards your education. We have applications that you can fill out here at the Vocational Center. You also need to mail in a referral letter from John with your application to apply. News from Mt. Vernon Jan Woodard, the teacher at Mt. Vernon, tells us that her students are keeping track of their IGO’s on the computers at the school. |
